African Art - Intifest
Sat morning went to Intifest… initially invited by one of my students but dint promised him I could go till last min i tot of visiting Inti ever since I first drop by there abt 4yrs ago when I became the examiner for Arithmatic test attended by almost 100+ students organized by my lady-boss who manages a tuition centre in Kuching. They were only given 5-10mins to complete a whole list of complex calculation questions. Each of us including my colleagues and some working stuff earned abt rm20 for that day alone. Altho not much money but the experience was really fun… miss those times with my collegemates n colleagues. I love the interior structurial design there. Somehow it could let you feel as if …somewhere overseas.
That was why I decided to go for this intifest at the very last resort after thinking through how to spend my Sat off. Among so many stalls that had been set up, saw some of my church members there doing sales n promotion at their respective booth. Not much stuff that could attract my attention there, but there was 1 section that caught my eyes. A small art-theater organized by the Afican students who study at Inti. I love their masterpieces which are mainly cultural-based and filled with aesthetic value. There was one artwork done off woodcarve and through the burning process and carving technique. The subject artwork was a traditional lady and not only that there were a few more pieces on that. Such a delicate work and I had a high regard on it. That artwork costs abt RM300 and one of the students told me that the material couldn’t find at any place locally but only in Africa. If i really had the money and just mov to a new house I would definitely buy it as a decorative artpiece to be display in my guestroom.

Did you take the picture of the artwork? hehehe just curious to know how it looks like
nowadays, I find myself appreciating paintings and sculptures, and like you, I also have high respect for these talented artists. Not only are they creative ppl, they are also able to bring their audiences to another perspective and provoke thinking. Amazing art world here and out there!
